What is the difference between wax sticks and wax beans?

• The stamps made with the original wax sticks have a soft gloss, the stamps with beans have a matte color. In the example photo with the gold-colored ribbon, the left seal is made with the wax sticks, the right one with the wax beans.
• Stamps made with original wax sticks are slightly more authentic
• Stamps made from original wax sticks are fragile unless you make them very thick. Wax bean stamps are flexible and more suitable for making ahead and then attaching with double-sided tape or glue.
• Wax beans are easier to dose and therefore easier to use.

How do you process the wax beans?

The easiest thing to do is to use a candle and a wax spoon. You place the required amount of beans on the melting spoon and hold it above the flame and let it become nice and hot. The beans will melt after about 20 seconds. The wax should melt, not boil! If it gets too hot, the wax will boil and bubbles will appear in your seal. So make sure that your spoon is not too close to the flame. Make sure they are all melted. Then pour a nice round puddle where the stamp should be placed, making it as big as your stamp. Then place the stamp gently on the puddle, do not press, your print will still be visible, and let it cool down. The wax stamp then comes off easily.

Do you want to make the wax stamp in advance? That's possible, use baking paper to make the stamps. Let the seal cool and it will easily release from the baking paper. You can then stick it down as desired with double-sided tape or glue. This way your customer doesn't have to wait long!

If you want to make the seal in advance, and you want a string or ribbon underneath, it is best to add it underneath when making the seal. You place the string, ribbon, twig, etc. on the baking paper and let the wax run over it. Then lower your stamp onto it. Let it cool and you have made a pendant, a seal with a ribbon or twig. In the example on the string, the flexible varnish is used on the left and the traditional varnish stick is used on the right.

A layer of lacquer remains on the spoon, no problem, it will melt again when you make your next seal. Make sure you use a spoon per color if you don't want the colors to mix.

Are you using the wax stamp for the first time?

Then it is wise to first practice on a piece of paper. Not that it is difficult, but that it takes some time to get used to it.
